Unique endocrine problems occur during pregnancy, and the management of these is undertaken in the specialist setting. Usually, once the pregnancy has completed, the long term management is returned to the general practitioner. Many of these patients need life-long follow up, as well as pre-natal advice for future pregnancies. This presentation will cover typical and atypical endocrinology encountered in pregnancy and lactation, and the ideal screening in early pregnancy, and follow up post partum of various endocrine conditions including gestational diabetes, diabetes in pregnancy, subclinical hypothyroidism of pregnancy, and management of Graves’s disease in pregnancy and the post partum period.
